ABOUT
the Director
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a
double minor in Ethnic Studies and Native American & Indigenous Studies at the University of California, San Diego. My interest in film first started with a video production class my freshman year of high school and has only grown since then. I have a strong passion for discovering and amplifying truths that have been historically undermined, underrepresented, and pushed aside through the cinematic medium.
Growing up, the concept of home has always been a bit groggy
for me. How is it that such a simple question as “where are you from?” could be so confusing? I get tripped up every time I try to answer because, well, there are many answers to that question. I was born in China, raised in SoCal, and yet have ties to the Tlingit of Alaska/Canada. Not to mention the Japanese and Filipino cultures were mixed in with all that somewhere along the way. It’s my lifelong goal to create a strong enough ripple in the film industry to inspire, encourage, and amplify the many stories that are longing to be told. Dear Alaska kickstarted my journey towards reconnection, and I am excited to continue growing and learning as I go along.
